Inspírame Mujer Claudia Romo Edelman: Power, Purpose, and Sotol

Claudia Romo Edelman settles into her chair with the easy confidence of someone used to Davos stages and grassroots circles in equal measure, but today the spotlight is softer, more intimate. A self-described social entrepreneur, global activist, inspirational speaker, and philanthropist, she has spent her career building bridges for the Latino community as the founder and leader of We Are All Human and Hispanic Star, turning data and advocacy into visibility and opportunity. Now, she is raising spirits and standards in a new arena—shaking up the traditionally male-dominated world of sotol, and bringing a fresh, values-driven perspective to an ancient desert spirit.

In this conversation, the titles and accolades take a backseat as Claudia opens up about the woman behind the global platforms: the Latina who carries her roots into every room, the strategist who still trusts her intuition, and the human who believes joy, culture, and purpose belong in the same glass. We sit with Claudia to explore her more personal side—the stories, rituals, and quiet convictions that fuel her public mission and her bold move into the world of sotol.

1.- You may know me as Claudia Romo Edelman Diplomat, Podcaster, Influencer,

Philanthropist and now Spirit Entrepreneur Sotol Romo.

But what you don’t know is that the journey to get me there has been (tell us your story)

What people often see is the outcome, the titles, the platforms, the brands.

What they don’t see is that my journey has been anything but linear.

I grew up in Mexico with a deep sense of responsibility, curiosity, and a commitment to service. From a young age, I was aware of inequality and of how invisible some communities can feel. That awareness shaped everything. I worked my way through global institutions such as the United Nations  and UNICEF, learning how power, policy, and perception operate on a global scale.

But at some point, I realized that institutions alone don’t change narratives; people do. That’s when I shifted toward building platforms, telling stories, convening leaders, and eventually becoming an entrepreneur. Sotol Romo is part of that evolution: honoring heritage, building economic power, and creating something deeply authentic.

This journey has included reinvention, fear, self-doubt, and courage, and I wouldn’t change any of it.

2.- Who has influenced your life the most?

The women in my family, especially my mother.

She taught me resilience, integrity, and that your word matters. But the most important thing that she taught me was that success means nothing if you forget who you are and where you come from.

3.- What are your proudest achievements?

Raising my children with strong values, pride in their heritage, and confidence in who they are.

Building We Are All Human and Hispanic Star, platforms that have shifted how Latinos are seen, valued, and included.

And now, stepping into entrepreneurship with Sotol Romo, proving that culture and business excellence can coexist beautifully.

4.- Who inspires you?

I find inspiration in my family, my children, and my husband. I am also deeply inspired by Latinas who build, nurture, create, and lead, often with immense impact but little recognition. These are women who demonstrate courage and generosity in their leadership and can reinvent themselves.

5.- What advice would you give someone pursuing a career in what you do?

Never wait for external validation; your unique voice, story, and perspective are necessary now.

Modern careers are a collection of chapters, not a single, linear path.

Above all, remain committed to your core purpose (“why”), as it is the lasting source of sustenance when titles and roles change.

6.- What makes an inspiring woman?

A truly inspiring woman embodies self-awareness and embraces growth and change fearlessly.

She leads with courage, authenticity, and profound empathy.

Her journey upward is marked by a commitment to elevating those around her.

The source of genuine inspiration lies where her values, actions, and resulting impact are in perfect harmony.

Tell us five things no one knows about you? (have fun with it)

  1. Physical activity is my go-to for completely disconnecting and recharging.
  1. I find that quiet time is essential for recharging, particularly when I travel, as it helps me remain grounded in the present moment.
  2. Family memories are incredibly important to me; I have a deeply nostalgic and sentimental side.
  1. Though I speak six languages, I still experience nervousness before major events.
  1. I’m starting my entrepreneurial venture with a spirits brand called Sotol Romo, operating in a male-dominated industry.
