2023 Mercedes Benz EQE 350X: Quiet Luxury

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is a fully electric example of a midsize crossover SUV. It has two rows of seating for up to five passengers in luxurious surroundings. Its offers on-road performance, smoothness, and refinement.  In other words, it checks all the boxes of what you want in an Electric Vehicle.

The EQE features an exterior that is rounded and smooth, as it leans heavily on aerodynamics to maximize its slipperiness and increase its driving range to 279 miles and beyond. Anything over 250 is a good way to alleviate any range anxiety fears you may have. A zippy Silver Arrow in its own right, its EV powertrain delivers 288 horsepower using eco-friendly battery-generated energy.

What the Mercedes-Benz EQE is like inside

The interior of the EQE makes an immediate impact and gives you some major “wow factor” impact right off the bat. The cabin is spacious and well designed, with the soft faux leather black and saber upholstery, contoured ambient lighting, and a larger-than-life panoramic sunroof. The pièce de résistance is the 12.8-inch digital cluster instrument panel adjacent to a 12.8 infotainment screen with Mercedes’ easy-to-use “Hey Mercedes” MBUX system. Es ist sehr gut (German for “It is very good!”)

Behind the wheel of the EQE
How does it drive? The EQE is as smooth and quiet as you can imagine “The Best or Nothing” ought to be. This is partly due to its silent-running electric drivetrain. Get behind the wheel to feel what pampering is really like.

It’s been a very hot summer in Arizona this year. That’s hot with a capital H. Driving around town in the Mercedes-Benz EQE with a 120-degree ambient temperature was a delightful experience, if you equate delightful experiences with putting your face in front of your open oven. Still, the EQE was up to the task, although extreme heat can cause the range of the battery to reduce slightly. Still, there was a feeling of satisfaction knowing that I was reducing my carbon footprint by emitting zero tailpipe emissions. The fact the EQE doesn’t have a tailpipe may have something to do with that.

The Mercedes-Benz EQE EV SUV faces competition from vehicles like the Cadillac Lyriq, the Polestar 3 and the Tesla Model Y.

Our test model carried an MSRP of $86,790.
