2023 Mercedes Benz GLC300:A Petite Joy

The GLC 300 is a compact luxury SUV that could be your entree to the Mercedes Benz lineup. All new for 2023, it offers smooth and efficient power, an elegant interior, and the latest in helpful technology features. It has become one of our favorite SUVs.

For 2023, it is also faster and more agile than before, as it’s powered by a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mild hybrid engine. The 48-volt system hybrid system helps the engine deliver 255 horses and 295 lb-ft of torque. The powertrain is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The EQ Boost mild hybrid system helps boost fuel economy by allowing the engine to shut off and coast under light loads. Mercedes does offer the 4Matic all-wheel drive system for those who travel in inclement weather.

Looks Count

Our sample was a lovely-to-look-at Polar White model that just happened to be a blast to drive. After its 2023 redesign, it now features a more refined look and comfortable interior that is clearly on par with its C-Class sedan sibling. It gains more interior space and a larger cargo area.

Mercedes-Benz hasn’t let its tech hand slide. For gauges, there’s a 12.3-inch digital display. The 11.9-inch MBUX infotainment touchscreen display is easy to use, especially with its voice control functionality. Say “Hey Mercedes” followed by a command, like “set temperature to 73 degrees” and it will.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Burmester sound system. It’s a 13-speaker arrangement that is powered by a 590-watt amplifier, making the GLC a concert hall on wheels. The MBUX augmented reality navigation system provides easy-to-follow turn-by-turn directions, and the wireless connectivity of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto was seamless.

Relatively Easy on the Wallet

What’s not to love? The Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 starts at $47,100. By moving to the Exclusive Trim level, ($54,100) you gain MB Navigation, Burmester 3D Surround Sound audio, surround-view cameras and Parktronic assisted parking. All GLC models come with an $1,150 destination fee. Add in a six-month SiriusXM trial subscription and a camping refrigerator, and you may never want to get out of the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300.
