Palm Springs, a stunning desert oasis located approximately five hours from Phoenix, Arizona, is a dream destination for design enthusiasts, offering a blend of old Hollywood glamour and the quintessential desert chic vibe. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a Slim Aarons photograph, showcasing a perfect blend of glamour and elegance. Expansive glass walls capture the bright desert sun, complemented by sleek steel frames and clean lines that create a striking visual appeal. The open floor plans beautifully merge indoor and outdoor spaces, embodying the relaxed California lifestyle.

When our friends invited us to celebrate a birthday there, we eagerly embraced the idea. With our Land Rover ready for adventure, we set off for a memorable 4th of July celebration, jokingly proclaiming, “The British are coming!” as we hit the road.

They mentioned that our stay would be at the uber-chic Casa Cody, and I couldn’t help but dive into Instagram for a glimpse of what awaited us. However, nothing could compare to the moment I stepped onto the enchanting grounds of Casa Cody. This historic gem, the oldest operating hotel in town, immediately cast a spell on me, much like a hidden secret garden blooming in plain sight.

As I approached the inner courtyard, I was welcomed by a vibrant display of white /yellow-striped pool umbrellas, casting playful shadows on the ground. The lush, purple bougainvillea leaves danced gently in the warm breeze, framing the kidney-shaped pool like a tropical paradise. Surrounding the water, inviting deck chairs beckoned, offering the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere.

Casa Cody offers a serene, adults-only experience, providing guests with a refreshing retreat that stands in stark contrast to the hushed pretension and competitive atmosphere of many local luxury hotels. Unlike other establishments that cater to an all-night party crowd, Casa Cody creates a calming environment where visitors can relax and unwind in charming surroundings. The intimate ambiance, cozy accommodations, and personalized service invite travelers to savor each moment, making it an ideal haven for those seeking tranquility.

Casa Cody exudes a distinctive charm, embodying a Dust Bowl elegance steeped in rich history. The walls tell stories through sepia-toned photographs of Harriet Cody, the formidable matriarch of the family. At the same time, horseshoes hung above the doors symbolize good luck from her days as a pioneer. We were fortunate to book one of the most sought-after houses, Harriet’s Cottage, a cozy abode located beyond the gardens, where you can drift from the King-size bed to your outdoor soaking tub.

You could often find us lounging in the inviting rectangular pool, surrounded by the vibrant colors of Palm Springs. We watched the delicate pink bougainvillea leaves gently drift down from their branches, dancing on the water’s surface like carefree confetti. With refreshing Aperol spritzes in hand, we savored the sun-drenched atmosphere, fully embracing the endless summer that defines this beautiful oasis.
